We clicked through to the first link, and we noticed the blog used:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the word \u201cbeginner\u201d 17 times<\/li>\n<li>the word \u201ccalligraphy\u201d 67 times<\/li>\n<li>the word \u201cguide\u201d 6 times<\/li>\n<li>the phrase \u201cbeginner\u2019s guide to modern calligraphy\u201d 4 times<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They made it to the top of the SEPRs because they knew people would search \u201ccalligraphy for beginners\u201d or \u201cbeginner\u2019s guide to calligraphy\u201d and they included those keywords into their blog multiple times.<\/p>\n<h2>Best SEO Keyword Strategy Practices<\/h2>\n<h3>Develop a Customer Persona<\/h3>\n<p>In order to understand what your target audience is searching for on Google, you need to get into their heads. Ask yourself:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What problems are they facing? i.e., if someone has problems falling asleep, they may search \u201cwhy can\u2019t I sleep\u201d?<\/li>\n<li>Where are they in the customer buying process?<\/li>\n<li>Are they becoming aware? i.e., \u201cwhat is insomnia?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Are they researching and comparing options? i.e., \u201chow do I fix my sleeping schedule?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Are they ready to purchase? i.e., \u201csleeping pills over the counter\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once you understand what your target audience is searching for, you can start looking at what keywords they would use.<\/p>\n<h3>Use Google Suggest<\/h3>\n<p>Google Suggest is the easiest and most accessible tool for finding keywords. All you have to do is enter your topic into Google and let autocomplete tell you what people are searching for. Well-established companies have already optimized them, and it can take years for you to get to the first results page. Instead of competing for these words, we suggest using long tail keywords.<\/p>\n<h3>Use longtail keywords<\/h3>\n<p>Longtail keywords are keywords that your competitors have overlooked which makes it easier for you to rank high for them. Longtail Keywords are more descriptive than normal keywords so to find them, you can just add words to your Google search.
